in a row ( UPDATED)

The last two weekends before easter is now officially fully filled up. I won't be in town, but instead i'll be off to manchester this week for the Brumanch Talentime 2009, and birmingham next week for a shopping trip *yayy*

fast forward to next week...

So the Brumanch thing is done, the house football competition halfway done, the hockey semis pictures has been processed, now what's left is the Apprentice event tonight. I didn't really expect my week will be this filled up, but at least its a 'treat' for me, if you know what i mean :]

So let's start with the brumanch talentime, shall we? * waiting for anwer*

*gave up waiting*

The brumanch talentime 2009 was held in manchester at the Dancehouse Theater at Oxford Road. Being that i'm in cheltenham, a train is required for me to go to there, but there's a bump-bollard-speedbump to that plan. See, if i take the direct train, i'll only reach there at around 1.15 in the afternoon, but the show starts at 1.30. With the time gap being too small, i decided to get an earlier from london. Which means that i have to take 4 different journeys to get to manchester piccadilly station. Was it worth the extra effort? heck yeah :D

I left school, dengan restu housemasterku aisyehmen and got on the train to swindon. There was literally only two people on the train ( it's not a big one, point made but it was very barren) and i was one of them. I got myself a table seat and started doing stuff for my physics coursework ( which is finally done after suffering in writing up the report on the recorded data and comparative analysis) It was all very silent, very calming, probably because the train left the station at 9.30+ pm, and it takes an hour to go to swindon.

at swindon, i had to take another train to go to london. Usually i can take a direct one to london, but since i'm not in a rush and carrying light, i didn't mind the connection. That train took me to london paddington, reached there around 11.30+ pm, close to midnight. managed to get myself some food from the station for snack-age *mmm*

Brunei hall's under renovation right now, if you haven't found out yet, so you'll have to go through the door at the boys side, where they used to stash the luggage. The renovation is mainly around the lobby area

Checked myself in, had some sleep and woke up the next morning to get something to eat. Some myself some food and i went on straight for the tube to catch my train from Euston. Now, the train i was going to be on was the Virgin train, and from farhan's comments, they have very comfortable cabins, and he rightfully so.

My seat was one with a table, in the same coach with the shop. 2.5 hours later, i was in manchester piccadily. With the help of google map * i love you google* i found my way to the place. Since it was a bit too early, i found myself a sofa at the cafe next door and made myself comfortable with some hot chocolate *milano*. Then ian, arif and wana came. Once ready, we went into the show, waited a bit before tickets were released and once seated, the show started * drumrolls*

note : do ask for permission before grabbing the pics, especially if you're gonna post it up somewhere else. Think of the dolphins.seriously.

the two MCs for the events.
Guest of Honour giving an opening speech
One of the contestants belting out a song. Difficult to get the white balance right, since the stage lights were coloured, mostly red. Solo section first.

now, in the dance section, it's time for the appearance of the only a-level participants in the talentime, the 34.87 group! comprising of nadia, zati, izzah, fazleen, nabilah, raihan and chia yi
update : now with video
the group part of the competition, mostly by guys and gals with guitars. fo sho~ ( haha lame)

back to the solo section.

She belted out her song, and the theater was in deep silence listening to the song. Personally, she should have won, but I'm not the music expert.

Came back to school on Sunday night, pretty poofed up and went straight to bed. Then the next day, i had the house football match to go to, to support Gate house, my boarding house ( not the most inspiring name, but it works)
supporters at the match.
ben making a pass.
andy being offensive

now, on tuesday, it's time for the hockey nationals, where the school hockey team had a match in on of the late stages of the tourney, maybe it was the quarterfinals, i'm not sure. The set was taken using the 150-500mm, just to try it out. The OS was ok, although i need to adjust the exposure compesation quite a bit to get the contrast right.

mr.gwilliam. oh blue eyes..

find a lost star trek ( or looks like it) cast here.

Back from the match, i needed a good rest. Wednesday was free, no assignments on that day in terms of photography, but i've got the apprentice event tonight to catch. Note that i'm doing this work some for the magazine, some for my portfolio and some for practise. it's a good way to kill off free time :D
