happy belated start-of-school-holiday thing!
Maulud on thursday was easier for a change, don't know how but i felt less tired than i should be after maulud. maybe the cross-country helped regain my super stamina. LOL
friday
Friday, oh friday was the first day of holiday [rhymes? unintentionalllll], the whole family, with yours truly, went down to bandar to try out the kiulap plaza hotel right next to hua ho kiulap.
review? here's my review:
the room we had was super-value-for-money [i guess]. it had a munch-munch area, with a small round bar type table and couches to sit on while watching dvd's or shows on the lcd tv. and that was only the eating area.
Seperated by only a door, the other part of the room basically is the standard room we normally get in hotels a.k.a the stereotype room [ with the dresser, tv, two chairs, you get the point]
price? well worth the value.
now back to the holiday.
that afternoon, an idea came up.
boat ride anyone?
not the paddle boat ride at jp. this was the ride on one of the 'perahu tambangs' to bruneians out there. since we were in kiulap, the closest jetty was near the aneka rasa restaurant. we were at the kiulap plaza. busy 4 lanes street to cross. twice.
we all got on the boat, and decided to go on a full tour of kg ayer. Mcm tourist kaliah lol
From then on, it just became an impromptu history field trip. the operator told stories of the places we were all passing through, such examples below:
-the old palace
-the first high-rise building in bandar, next to the old palace
-the differetnt old villages
-jong batu [ quite a distance from the main kg ayer area.]
-the old clinic on stills
-the burnt down primary school at the back end of kg ayer
-the story behind the bumbungan dua belas
-gossip! haha jk.
-lumut lunting rock feature.
Also, we dug up some info on the tandoor.com boat-buffet-cruise offer. you can actually rent out the boat they're using, which is a two tier, big recreational boat for a party or just cruising around, and you could have it go around kg ayer or anywhere you want for a certain amount of time, which you'll set earlier.
you could have it sail off anytime, with a maximm capacity of 60 people. catering services are allowed on board or if you don't want, you could bring your own food.
price? if you were renting out a bouncer for your party, it's right abouuttttt that price range. but with more water included.
back to the holiday again. dang, i keep sounding like a publicity guy.
after that, shopping frenzy! well ok not quite. treated myself with some retail therapy, drooled over some camera lenses and bought a few 'clothing items'
the sun had set. and me, my li bro n sis went to the nearby q-lap mall. nothing much to see there really. basically, the choices there was saturated, as i had seen everything there, all the way from the freestyler shop to the toilet on the third floor.
and btw, i saw stella and the au lait [ am i right, stels?] shop. the funny thing was i didn't notice the first time i went past the shop, where she was sitting at one of the close tables to the door. i stopped and i actually reversed alllllllllll the way back while facing front until i finally realised i just went past stella the first time.
the night went on with a trip down to the night market, to get something to munch on for dinner.
nyum.
saturday
i had to wake up early that morning because i had to go to the moe for a interview and apparently i was the first to be interviewed that day. In case you're lost on what i'm talking about here, it's an interview for the moe scholarshipS, and yes there's not one scholarship, but three big ones. and i'm trying out for two of these.
wish me luck . a lot.
the interview went smoothly, the interviewers were friendly and didn't approach me like a pack of curious wolves. one of them actually asked me if i was a football fan! guess i'll be watching a lot of football matches there in uk, if i get the scholarship.
After that, i had a change of clothes, and went to the giant store, which just opened on that day.
the traffic there was horriblē! the queqe was as follow:
- long long long quuqe, like 1km + on the main highway, and i didn't even count those off the main highway
-cars were parked right outside, close to the highway, while the store was a long walk inside.
-the overpass near the store was completely jammed with cars trying to get into the giant store.
-apparently, the queqe was so long inside that stalls were set up, selling food and drinks. at least, that's what i though looking through a window of a car whizzing pass the store from the highway.
-the rimba inside road wasn't any better as well.
glad we didn't try to get in. oh how long will it be if we were to try it out.

sunday
we continued on going around and around bandar, continued some window-shopping, as you may called it.
finally, i tried out the fun donuts people been talking about, not about the donuts but more about the long hectic queqe.
well, i didn't saw any. in fact i was the second one there, and it was already 11-ish. the trays weren't empty, as many had encoutered.
here's a good picture [not literally] of what i saw:
no queqe, stacked trays of freshly made donuts, my wallet calling out "spend what's in me for the donuts" and the oh ever-so-refreshing aroma of the fillings.
i bought a box of 6, with 2 almonds, 1 choco-something, 1 rainbow, 1 choco-rice and another one which i-forgot-what-was-the-name-but-it-was-the-most-delicous-among-the-6.
after that, we all went home and watched some F1 action. too bad massa spun out, he was racing so well till the unfortunate spin-out between corner 7 & 8. dang ban of traction control
note: new photo set tomorrow [maybe]
