DSLR dilemma

So far, all my photos has been with a point-and-shoot camera, my Samsung L700. I'm looking to jump into the DSLR wagon and get me a DSLR of my own

I'm having a dilemma here. i can't really decide which one to get. here's a few possibilites, but not all of them:

-Canon EOS 400D
-Nikon D40x
-Nikon D80

[I've been checking only qqestore so far, as it's the easiest ]

I'm having a hard time choosing what's best for me, all i want is something to start with and be able to upgrade it as i progress an improve myself.

It's a good thing i've had experience handling SLRs, although the last one i used was a analog one, that is it isn't digital.

Any recommendation, guys? drop me a message at my cbox if you do. Thanks.

ooOOOoo!! Gonna get a new toy!!! Heheh.. Ok.. Here's my view, but before u make ur decision, bare in mind, I'm no expert and I myself own a nikon.

Two of the guys on ISO own the canon 400d and as far as I can tell they are quite happy with it. I can't tell u more on canon, dude..

Two other guys own the Nikon D40x. They are happy with it too, but I can see one problem though. Its nice and small and because of that, they dont have a motor for the lens, meaning u hv to get a lens with built in motor for auto focus or else u'll be manually focusing ur shots.. and lenses aren't cheap.

Comparing the two cameras, I chose Nikon because I like the grip on it but then again thats personal preferences.

I'd go for the D80.. which is probably what I'd like to get in the near future..

Good luck dude..
